The History of The BMB

The Black Men’s Brunch (BMB) is a joint venture between 500 Men Making a Difference, and New York City’s Mayor, Eric Adams. It’s mission is to bring together today’s man who has a vested interested in improving the future of NYC. The BMB looks to make its impact by bringing together it’s participants to work on group initiatives that alone would be daunting, but as a whole become feasible.

“No one is going to save our young men but us”

The BMB humble origins began simply with a few conscientious men meeting for brunch. And just like in the tradition of the ladies and their Sunday brunches, the men took the opportunity not just share good cuisine but also conversation, ideas, discuss pressing issues and community concerns.

The BMB Continues

Through the years the BMB has been held at or catered by some of the best restaurants in our community such as, Row House Harlem, Simpson Restaurant & Bar, La Caye, Sugar Hill Supper Club, Fusion East. The BMB expanded its capacity needs with over 800 people attending the 2023 event and on Sept 6th 2024, the brunch will be held at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
